Crystal Palace striker Kevin Doyle admits he's relieved Neil Warnock came in for him.
Doyle reveals there was no chance he'd be playing with Wolves this season.
"After back-to-back relegations, a decision was made by Wolves to have a clean break and get rid of a load of players," Doyle told the Sunday World.
"It's tough because there is no way to reverse the decisions that have been made and for lads like Roger Johnson and Kevin Foley, who are still at Wolves, they have no prospect of playing football any time soon.
"I understand that the club are trying to trim the wage bill and they also want a fresh start after the disappointments of recent years, but it isn't nice for the lads who are left on the sidelines and it looked like I might be one of them last summer.
"It was touch and go whether I would get a move right up to deadline day and then the offer came in to join Palace.
"It was a relief, I have to admit, because you don't want to spend your time not playing, but you just have to get on with it. There is no way back for a few of the lads at Wolves, though."
