Pako Ayestaran in frame for Liverpool return

Liverpool are seeking a new assistant manager for Brendan Rodgers.

Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh have been dumped by Liverpool this week.

The Daily Star says the Reds will now need to replace two key senior figures in their first-team coaching set up.

They could look to former players, but it is not clear what direction they will go in what is set to be a pivotal summer for the club and Rodgers.

Pako Ayestaran was Rafa Benitez's right-hand man when the Reds won the Champions League in 2005 and could be available this summer.

The Spaniard is considering his future as manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
