Optus agrees deal to ICC pre-season tournament

Australian broadcaster Optus has secured the media rights to fifteen exclusive matches of the International Champions Cup (ICC) preseason tournament, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The agreement, made with Channel Nine, will see Optus cover the fifteen games from the US and European legs of the tournament, which beings on 23rd July.

Channel Nine will continue to air the matches played in Australia and China.

The deal sees Optus air its first soccer offering before it launches its English Premier League season coverage in August.

"We know that football fans want the ability to see football matches live when they happen," said Optus marketing and products managing director, Ben White.

"Securing the live rights to the International Champions Cup further demonstrates Optus' commitment to delivering exciting live football experiences to our customers."

The International Champions Cup will take place across the US, Australia, Europe and China, and features some of the world's most famous clubs, including Paris St Germain, Manchester United, Melbourne Victory and Juventus.
