Frank de Boer's job at Crystal Palace is in serious doubt after today's defeat at Burnley.

De Boer's short reign at Crystal Palace was plunged into further turmoil after an early blunder from Lee Chung-yong paved the way for his side's fourth straight Premier League defeat.

Burnley new boy Chris Wood pounced on a dreadful back-pass by the South Korean to put his side in front with less than three minutes on the clock and the hosts held out to leave De Boer's reign hanging by a thread after a 1-0 loss.

De Boer said afterwards: "No I cannot believe we lost, there is still frustration about the result but not about our performance.

"The goal we conceded was very disappointing, we have given a lot of sloppy goals away already and that was even worse.

"We showed what we really can do – and I already said I will sign directly for every game if we are going to create so many open chances against any team.

"We did not give much away, controlled the game and you have to reward yourself by scoring goals. That is what football is about.

"I am not disappointed about the performance and it gives me a lot of hope for the future – I said straight after after to the boys that if you do like this you will get your goals and your rewards.

"The only thing I can control is to work very hard with the boys and that is what I am going to do and hopefully for a long time.

"I saw the team fighting for each other and playing with more confidence and that is what I want.

"The only thing we didn't do was score."

Clarets boss Sean Dyche conceded: "We were resolute, that was the key. Palace were the better side today, we didn't get into our stride at all.

"They played well throughout the game. Sometimes it's just not your day. It's our worst performance of the season so far but the shape of the team, the belief in each other was on show."
