There are three names in the frame for the Newcastle United job should Mike Ashley take the club off the market this week.
The People says Ashley is looking at David O'Leary, Gordon Strachan and Alan Curbishley.
O'Leary is still very much in the frame, even though the former Leeds and Aston Villa manager seemed to rule himself out of the reckoning.
The contract was on the table for O'Leary - who would bring former Newcastle skipper Roy Aitken with him as assistant - on Wednesday. But after discussions with his representative Michael Kennedy he did not sign.
Steve Coppell is another name strongly fancied in the corridors of power at St James' Park. The former Reading manager is highly-regarded, and would also be a much more popular choice with fans.
