Odemwingie wants West Brom to be leading Midland's side at season's end

West Bromwich Albion are currently ahead of Birmingham, Aston Villa and Wolves and in eighth spot after Sunday's impressive 3-1 home success over Newcastle. And Peter Odemwingie believes the Baggies can sustain their position as the leading Midlands side in the Premier League until the end of the season.

He said: "West Brom have a good chance of being the leading Midlands side by the end of season because we play good football.

"I hear comments from all over Europe and Africa where they are watching the games saying we are playing very good football.

"For me, any team that plays good football, the results will come and then the little extra we need to put in, will make sure of that.

"I think it is not by mistake that we are one of the best teams in the area because of our quality and scoring lots of goals.

"We've had a bad period recently but we have to continue this way of playing and stay where we are."

Odemwingie will not be content with the bare minimum in terms of achievement.

He said: "I hope we will not settle for the minimum. There will be a time when we get the points we need (to stay up).

"If we don't relax then, we can fight to be high in the table.

"The minimum is to stay in the Premier League but, inside of me, I'm really hoping we can do something that will really make us happy for the holidays after the season.

"If we were a team that struggles to get points, or only wins by one goal, I would be saying that's the target (staying up).

"But, with the way we play sometimes, we can go for more."
