Martin O'Neill has been told he will have £20 million to spend should he take the West Ham United job.
The Daily Star says the Hammers are desperate to agree terms with O'Neill so they can fire Avram Grant and begin the fight for Premier League survival.
Hammers co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan have been talking to O'Neill for weeks and he is still their No.1 choice.
But former Tottenham boss Martin Jol is also in the running although it is understood Sam Allardyce is not being considered.
There is even the possibility that the new man could be offered a short-term contract so that both sides can walk away if West Ham are relegated.
