O'Neil admits openness to taking Bournemouth permanently

Gary O'Neil has said he would consider taking the Bournemouth job on a permanent basis.

O'Neil has been interim head coach since Scott Parker was sacked last Tuesday.

Asked if the interim experience has inspired him to take up a permanent managerial role , O'Neil said: "I still feel like I'm on that journey. It's probably nine years now since I started my coaching badges.

"I started them with a view to being a manager. I've always wanted to be a manager from quite a young age in my playing career.

"Whether that needs to be now or the timeframe around that, I'm not too specific on.

"The four points from two games, the margins are so fine. That just is what is.

"We've prepared the team the best we can and things have gone our way in the first two.

"I'll look to do the same again on Saturday. Hopefully it goes our way.

"Hopefully the boys put in a performance that we can all be proud of again and then we look forward again after Saturday and see where we are."

And when asked if it would be an easy decision if was offered the Cherries job, O'Neil said: "I think it's an unbelievable club, run by good people.

"So, of course, if somebody asked me around that, there would always be a consideration."
