Manchester City youngster Shay Facey has extended his stay at New York City FC

Facey has impressed during his loan spell at Manchester City's sister club NYCFC and with the defender's terms at the MLS franchise coming close to expiration, manager Jason Kreis had expressed his desire to extend the duration of the loan.

It can now be revealed that City have sanctioned the extension of the loan and Facey is thrilled at the opportunity to stay put at New York.

The 20-year old said: "I'm really excited to be staying in New York.

"It gives me a chance to keep learning and continue playing first-team football at a really high level. This is a fantastic place to be, the fans are incredible and it feels like we are building something very special."
