NYCFC ace Diskerud surprised but excited for 60,000 Orlando City opener

Mix Diskerud admitted he was unaware that the opening game of the 2015 MLS season involving New York City FC was an emphatic sellout.

The expansion franchise meet fellow newbies Orlando City SC at the Citrus Bowl on Sunday with a crowd of 60,000 confirmed for the historic clash.

Diskerud said it was a pleasant surprise to learn that the Lions had sold out the encounter in downtown Orlando and was eagerly anticipating his club's first kick in the USA and Canada's top flight.

"I heard it was what, 60-65,000 people coming to the game. I didn't know it was going to be sold out like that. That's huge. I can't wait," he said.

"Of course, Kaka is a superstar, and he's been through a lot. And Brek Shea is a good friend of mine, so I can't wait to play against them."
