NY Cosmos boss Savarese sets sights on another New York derby triumph

New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese is looking to gain the advantage in another New York derby.

The NASL outfit knocked off New York Red Bulls 3-0 in the fourth round of the US Open Cup last year and get the chance to pull off a similar result when they host New York City FC at the same stage of the tournament on Wednesday night.

"As I said last year about the Red Bulls, these kind of games are derbies and they are very important," Savarese said.

"They are what you need in a city in order to allow the sport to grow, and for us this game is going to be huge."

The Cosmos currently sit on top of the NASL table having not tasted defeat in 10 matches while City are bottom of the Eastern Conference in MLS despite winning their past two league fixtures.
