Nuno delighted with Tottenham academy players in draw with Leyton Orient

Nuno Espirito Santo has praised Tottenham Hotspur's youngsters for their roles in Saturday's pre-season match at Leyton Orient.

A large number of Development Squad and Under-18s players featured during the 1-1 draw at The Breyer Group Stadium.

"The help of the Under-23s is so important for us, because they allow us to have good training sessions, to have numbers and bodies to work with and to try to mix," Nuno said.

"The team that played was a mix of young players that we believe can make this step and help us, and then the rest of the group with Dean (Rastrick, Academy Manager)… it's a big help for us, especially with players arriving from internationals and national teams and coming gradually. We need all the Under-23s and we are very thankful for it."

On the result, Nuno added: "It was a game that we prepared ourselves to compete in, to play inside a week that was very tough for the players but good, the players worked very hard.

"It's a process that's going to take time to get things together but as things go by, I'm happy because the commitment was there, they ran and now they have a good day off to reflect and prepare for the next week."
