Former Torino and Sampdoria coach Walter Novellino is confident AC Milan will shake-off their poor start to the season.

Novellino said: "Carlo Ancelotti is going through a bad time, but his fortune is that he has the unconditional support of the club. I am sure that as soon as Carlo can count on the full availability of his players, he will improve the team.

"Before the championship, Milan were among the main favourites to win the Scudetto and that should stay the same, despite these two bad performances.

"To be more competitive, however, Milan might have to rejuvenate the defence."
