Nottingham Forest striker Wood: Brentford defeat tough to take

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood admitted frustration after their 3-2 defeat at Brentford.

The Kiwi scored to bring the scores to 2-2 before Neal Maupay's Brentford winner.

Wood said: "Yes it is a tough one to take. We can't fault the effort and energy we put in especially after playing three days ago at Blackpool in the cup, 120 minutes.

"Credit to the boys for putting in another shift and for putting in some more hard work. I'd say we deserved to get something out of the game but unfortunately in football it doesn't always work out that way.

"We've got a big squad, that is what it's about. Yes when the boys come back from Afcon and from injury it will help. But we can't complain about that, we just have to get on with it and deal with it. We have a great squad that is capable of competing in the Premier League right now.

"Of course you want to keep a lead for as long as possible. He [Ivan Toney] is a talented man and he scored. But we should have got something out of the game, but it wasn't to be."
