Brighton have joined Premier League rivals Burnley in the race for the England U21 defender.

He has made 28 appearances this term and impressed in Forest's shock 4-2 FA Cup win over Arsenal despite being sent off in the 89th minute for a second booking.

Top-flight Brighton had intended to bid at the end of the season but are now stepping up their plans to head off rival interest.
