Norwich youngster Rowe: Smith support boost for academy players

Norwich City youngster Jonathan Rowe says the club's academy has been given a boost thanks to arrival of Dean Smith as first-team manager.

The 18-year-old was handed his first-team debut by Smith back in December and has since made six more appearances.

"I felt like Dean Smith coming in was a very big opportunity, not just for me but for all the players," Rowe told OTBC.

"I felt like I really took that opportunity because I saw it as a new beginning and a chance to show somebody new what I was capable of.

"I stepped it up a notch and I scored in the first game he and Craig Shakespeare watched when we played Charlton Athletic.

"I performed well in that game and from there he monitored my progress and I kept scoring, kept playing well and stayed consistent. That got me the opportunity to move across to the first team."
