NORWICH V SWANSEA RECAP: Canaries end losing streak with victory over Swans

Norwich City brought an end to their four-match Premier League losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Swansea City at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Jonny Howson was on hand to knock the ball in from close range in the 70th minute after Dieumerci Mbokani headed a corner back across goal.

Swansea went closest through Gylfi Sigurdsson, who rattled the woodwork following Wayne Routledge's cross.

The Canaries were able to hold strong for the final 20 minutes and record their first clean sheet of the campaign.

TALKING POINTS
Norwich got a much needed win and in the process stopped a worrying form slump which had seen them slide perilously close to the relegation zone. The Canaries are now sitting 15th place, five points clear of the drop.

Despite having 67% of possession against Norwich, Swansea have now gone six Premier League fixtures without keeping a clean sheet, their worst run since August 2014.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Norwich travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea, while Swansea host Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium.

QUOTES CORNER
Norwich boss Alex Neil reviews his side's performance:

"It certainly wasn't one of our best performances of the season, but we created the best chances in the game and kept it tight at the back.

"We changed our style, which I felt was necessary because we haven't been keeping enough clean sheets. I thought the lads responded well to that, though conceding possession at home is not something we are used to."

Swansea boss Garry Monk was left frustrated by the result:

"It's very frustrating. We had total control up until the goal, but unfortunately one lapse of concentration has cost us dearly again and it's been the story of the last couple of weeks.

"It was a difficult game, but our intention was right. We knew we might only get one or two chances. But we got caught with a sucker punch against the run of play. We totally dominated Norwich with the ball and didn't allow them anything other than the goal."
