Norwich boss Smith admits using Ronaldo workrate for halftime rev-up

Norwich boss Dean Smith paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo after defeat at Manchester United.

Ronaldo struck a hat-trick for United's 3-2 win.

"I was talking at half-time to my players, having a bit of a pop at a couple of them, saying 'listen, if you scored me 20 goals and give me 15 assists then you won't need to go and press as much as I'm asking," Smith said.

"Rightfully he takes the plaudits because he scored three goals, but we had a helping hand in them.

"But you've got to have players who that hunger to get in the right areas to score goals as well and that is what he does."
