Northern Virginia's chances of becoming a North American Soccer League expansion franchise have been bolstered by news that a deal has been agreed to build a stadium in Loudoun County.
Despite the fact it is a baseball-specific venue, a Northern Virginia bid to enter the NASL in 2014 could now grow legs according to Bob Farren, the president of VIP Sports & Entertainment who will own and operate both the soccer and baseball franchises.
"We have a few more steps to go, but it's looking real good," he told the Washington Post.
Farren and his company have already met with NASL Commissioner David Downs for the proposed franchise following next year's inclusion of New York Cosmos and the expansion into Ottawa in 2014.
