Kevin Nolan says Premiership survival should be Newcastle United's lone target next season.
The former Bolton Wanderers captain has warned that the key to success is first-time survival next term as Newcastle look forward to a return to the big time.
Nolan told the Evening Chronicle: "It was vital that we had a plan back then at Bolton when we got promoted, and it's a bit like that now.
"Everybody was laughing when Sam proposed it, even us.
"Nobody was laughing when we actually did it and finished high enough to get into Europe.
"There are more places up for grabs now, and you can't knock the idea of planning ahead over a few years because it works."
