France World Cup reject Samir Nasri has been named his nation's Player of the Year.
The Arsenal midfielder was deemed not good enough to feature in Raymond Domenech's 23 for the World Cup - but that probably worked in his favour among a self-flagellating jury of voters for the esteemed France Football magazine.
Nasri topped the poll ahead of Florent Malouda, who has enjoyed an excellent year at Chelsea but bears the scars of South Africa.
France was repulsed by its teams showing at the World Cup, where Les Bleus were dumped out in the first round and at one point went on strike in protest at the treatment of striker Nicolas Anelka.
Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris came third, with banned duo Anelka and Manchester United defender Patrice Evra nowhere to be seen, unsurprisingly.
