Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan won't be turning out for the Republic of Ireland at the Euros.
The 19-year-old Liverpool defender, who featured in Friday's 5-1 FA Cup win over Oldham Athletic, has played for England at under-age level, making his U21 debut earlier this season.
But stories had circulated this weekend that Flanagan may switch allegiances in time to be part of Giovanni Trapattoni's squad for next summer's tournament in Poland and Ukraine, on account of an Irish grandfather.
The Liverpool Echo says that is not the case, and that it would not be possible for Childwall-born Flanagan to represent Ireland within FIFA laws.
