No further bids for Millwall's Whitbread

Wantaway Millwall defender Zak Whitbread has not been the subject of any new offers according to manager Kenny Jackett. The Millwall boss said he was disappointed the 25-year old is keen to leave The New Den but after initial interest from Peterborough, there has been no new offers for his services.

"We're disappointed that (he wants to leave) but that's his view. We have to get on with it," Jackett told Sky Sports News.

"Peterborough made an offer and got some way down the road towards accepting that and agreeing it but it has broken down on his personal terms.

"I believe now that the interest is dead and we have had no other bids for him during the course of the summer."

The Houston-born Whitbread said he was keen to play at a higher level than League One to enhance his chances of pushing for a spot in the US national team squad ahead of next year's World Cup.

"I need to step up to that level and try and prove myself there, especially with the World Cup next year for the States. That level I think is a lot more recognised," he said.
