The organisers of the NextGen Series aren't abandoning the exciting youth competition.
The Daily Star Sunday says they hope to return next season.
The competition had to be cancelled this season due to a lack of confirmed funding.
English clubs excelled in 2012-13, with Aston Villa beating Chelsea in the final, after Italy's Inter Milan won the first tournament the previous year.
