Newcastle United winger James Milner admits he's grateful his move last summer to Aston Villa fell through.
Now new Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce says he wants to make him the backbone of his side.
Milner said: "For the new manager to come out and say that is a great confidence boost.
"I didn't want to leave Newcastle if I didn't have to and, once I started playing games, I took my chances.
"In a way it has been a blessing in disguise."
