Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy has insisted he is not focused on starting a Premier League game for the first time since November.

The winger impressed as he came on late in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.

Despite his side going down, Murphy was a threat for his side and nearly scored from a long-range effort.

Murphy told Chronicle Live: "Listen, whether I start or come off the bench, I always have a role to play. I will try to play that as best I can.

"All the boys know what I will bring. The gaffer knows exactly what I add to this team.

“So whatever contribution I can have towards this team. I will always give everything. Hopefully we can keep getting the results we need."
