Newcastle willing to meet Inler buyout clause

Newcastle United are set to land Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler.

The Mirror says Newcastle are closing in on a major deal for Inler after reaching the £5million 'buy-out' clause in his contract.

Manager Kevin Keegan is willing to pay that fee for the gifted attacking star who can quit the Serie A side after just one season if he wants because of the fixed fee in his deal with the Italian outfit.

Udinese are stunned that the Toon are prepared to go to those lengths and are now hurriedly trying to talk Inler into staying with the offer of a new and improved contract.

However Inler fancies the Premier League and is ready to activate the clause as long as personal terms can be agreed with the Geordies.

Talks are at an advanced stage and a decision is due in the next few days.
