Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic have held talks with Nantes over left-sided defender Franck Signorino.

Signorino is keen to leave Nantes following their relegation at the end of last season and Toon boss Sam Allardyce is considering the fullback as an alternative to Fulham's Franck Queudrue.

Wigan have also made inquiries in the last week about Signorino's asking price.
