Bolton Wanderers defender Danny Shittu is a target for Newcastle United.

The Mirror says Newcastle want to sign Bolton's giant centre half Shittu - after missing out on Sheffield United's Matthew Kilgallon.

The Toon Army are keen to take Shittu on loan and hope to get the nod to speak to him before the weekend to seal the transfer.

Shittu would rather make a full-time move - after snubbing similar approached from Sheffield United and QPR - but he could be tempted by the Geordies.
