Newcastle United target Gary Madine is being likened to Toon hero Andy Carroll.
Newcastle have been watching the Carlisle United striker this season.
And Carlisle goalscoring legend Billy Rafferty told the News & Star: "There is a comparison to be made between Gary and Andy Carroll as players and he has all the assets to progress and play at the highest level. He has everything a centre forward needs and I've seen a big improvement in him this season, especially in his general play and the way he holds the ball up.
"He's got the physical assets as he's tall but what impresses me is his workrate when he hasn't got the ball as he prevents defenders from getting possession and puts them under pressure.
"To be fair to Gary, he has grabbed his chance with both hands this season and he seems to have a different mindset because of what happened off the pitch.
"Andy Carroll is slightly bigger and stronger in the air but Gary's general play and hold-up play has improved out of sight this season.
"Gary's goals on Saturday were straight-forward tap-ins but he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time and getting on the end of things.
"He's only 20 and he's still learning and, if he progresses over the next year or two like he has in the last six months, Carlisle could have a real gem on their hands. A lot of it comes down to attitude but Gary certainly has all the right tools."
