Newcastle United are set to pursue a new director of football in the coming months.
The magpies are set to lose Dan Ashworth to Manchester United in the next couple of weeks.
Per The Mail, the Magpies will make former Liverpool chief Michael Edwards their top target.
As the St. James' Park club looks to replace Ashworth, they will be aware of the need to hire someone of a similar caliber.
Edwards is often credited as being the mastermind behind the Reds' recruitment drive when he was at the club.
Bournemouth's Richard Hughes may be another person on Newcastle's shortlist.
