Newcastle target Szoboszlai urged to quit RB Leipzig: 'England a clear step forward'

Newcastle United transfer target Dominik Szoboszlai has been given a fine for posing with a flare after winning the German Cup.

The RB Leipzig star was part of overzealous celebrations after they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in early June.

Szoboszlai is now being urged by Hungarian Tamás Bódog to leave for the Premier League this summer.

"If he changes, I think only England is a clear step forward for him," the Hertha Berlin assistant told Index.Hu.

"Of course, there are top teams in Italy, France and Spain, but I think the Premier League would be the best choice for him.

"He could develop even further there. In addition to the fact that he could stay in Leipzig for one more year, where the coach and teammates clearly trust him, and all the conditions are there for a successful season - both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

"He won the support of the audience, it's no coincidence that they are behind him even if he has a worse series. They don't cross it. If he goes to Newcastle now, or to another English team, and for big money, he will have to produce something every week, much more focused, and then maybe he will be in the crossfire."
