Barnsley midfielder Jacob Butterfield is reportedly considering signing a new deal with the Championship club, snubbing Newcastle United and Middlesbrough. The 22-year-old missed most of last season with a serious knee injury, but he is now nearing full fitness and is considering his options.
The Toon were leading the chase to land him and North East rivals Middlesbrough were also keen, but according to Sky Sports the player is now considering staying at Oakwell.
