Newcastle United have submitted a formal offer for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos.
The Magpies have already recruited Chris Wood and Kieran Trippier this month.
Eddie Howe is pushing for more reinforcements and Sky Sports says Toon have pushed forward with a move for Brazilian stopper Carlos.
Howe is desperate to improve his defence having conceded 42 goals in just 19 Premier League games this season.
Lille defender Sven Botman is also a target for Newcastle, but the French club are demanding at least £36m for Carlos.
