Newcastle United are struggling to find buyers for those players recommended for sale by manager Alan Shearer.

The Times says Newcastle would shave £1 million off their monthly wage bill if they located buyers for the underachievers they are desperate to sell.

But high earners such as Fabricio Coloccini, Jonás Gutiérrez, Alan Smith and Xisco are expected to still be at the club when pre-season training starts early next month.
