Newcastle striker Wilson admits special friendship with ex-Bournemouth pair Howe, Ritchie

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has admitted that Matt Ritchie and Eddie Howe have been huge influences on his career.

Wilson, who has struggled for his best form since returning from the World Cup, knows he faces a fight to maintain a regular place in the Magpies lineup.

However, he only has positive words to say about his coach Howe, while he also singled out Ritchie.

"I've known him [Howe] for eight years and he's very good at keeping me grounded," Wilson told Penalty.

"He's a big influence in my life. Matt Ritchie is also a positive influence in my life and is always making me strive for more.

"It shows how in football you can form friendships that last forever."
