Newcastle United youngster Nile Ranger struck a hat-trick against friendly opponents Wigan Athletic on Monday in front of Faustino Asprilla.
Ranger gunned down Wigan with a hat-trick as Tino watched on from the sidelines, with James Perch and Paul Dummett also grabbing goals in the resounding 5-1 win.
Toon reserves coach Peter Beardsley told the Evening Chronicle: "Tino Asprilla was with us for that game and was delighted by Nile's second goal.
"In the nicest possible way, it surprised me.
"I know Nile has ability, but sometimes he can mis-control a ball that you'd think would be simple but then do what he did for the second goal.
"He had a lot of work to do with the power and the pace and then the finish after it, it was a great finish.
"Credit to him, he scored a hat-trick.
"Our punters will be delighted to hear that because they love him.
"He excites them."
