Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak says that his team wanted to deliver a statement to the league.
The Magpies were humbled 3-0 by Aston Villa last weekend in a blow to their top four claims.
However, they bounced back in thrilling fashion, beating Tottenham 6-1 at home on Sunday.
Isak told Chronicle Live: "It was kind of a statement after last week at Villa. To come back and give a performance like this shows a lot.
"It was incredible. From the first minute we showed that we really wanted this - it paid off. It was 3-0 after nine minutes, that's incredible too."
He then added on the game: "Most things went right and we scored our chances, we were solid defensively too. We're very happy with it overall."
