Newcastle United centre-forward Andy Carroll was delighted with his brace for the reserves against Manchester City yesterday.
Carroll scored both goals in front of new Toon boss Alan Shearer and told nufcTV: "It was great to get 90 minutes under my belt and to score two goals was fantastic.
"It's good for confidence because I've had a couple of injury problems recently.
"It was nice as well that the gaffer was in the crowd and I hope he was impressed.
"That's all I can do now, just keep working hard in training, build my fitness and hope for a first-team chance."
