Newcastle striker Best reckons Toon fans no longer sceptics

Leon Best believes Newcastle supporters are gradually being won over by boss Alan Pardew. The majority of the Toon Army were in revolt when Chris Hughton was sacked 10 months ago and star striker Andy Carroll was then sold to Liverpool.

The Magpies boss has steered his side to fourth in the Premier League after a seven-match unbeaten start to the season.

Best said: "The fans can see what we're doing at the moment.

"Some weren't happy about a striker not coming in, and players not being brought in. Regardless of that, we're still winning.

"People talk about the players we've lost, or the players who haven't come in, but we're pulling off an unexpected story at the minute.

"It's not luck, what's happening. We're enjoying every minute of being in the top four, and obviously we want to continue it."
