Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi says he can fill in for Demba Ba during his African Nations Cup absence.
Newcastle take on Blackburn today in their first match without the Senegal hitman.
Ameobi said: "Demba has gone so it is going to be a big opportunity for someone to step in and do a job.
"I want to get a bit of confidence, go on from there and try and get some goals. I feel good.
"When you are not playing too much it can get to you - though I have always maintained my positive outlook.
"If I am asked, I know I can give the performances that are needed to help us win games.
"I know manager Alan Pardew is one who really wants to bring silverware to this club.""I am sure someone will do that and, hopefully, it will be myself and I can really get a run of games. That is something I have not had this season.
