Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron was on a beach in the Maldives in May when he was given word about comments made by Jack Grealish about him.

Manchester City had just won the Premier League, and Grealish made comments about Almiron disappearing in games when referencing the performance of teammate Riyad Mahrez in their last game of the season against Aston Villa.

Grealish joked that Mahrez had been “playing like Almiron" and deserved to be subbed against Villa.

“I didn't pay a lot of attention, I was on holiday with my family," stated Almiron to the Daily Mail.

“And I didn't have a mobile phone signal! So no, I didn't watch the video. I wasn't bothered."

“I'm not interested in that," he added on comparisons to Grealish given his outstanding form so far this term for Newcastle.

“Jack's a great player and I will always wish him all the best. He's at Manchester City for good reason. I just avoid making any comparisons. It's about me focusing on what I do. It's no big deal."
