Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini has intimated he's ready to pen a new contract.

Coloccini is set to open talks about a new deal.

Asked about his future, the in-form central defender, who has a little less than two years of his existing contract still to run, told The Journal: "I'm very happy here, so we will see what happens.

"It was important for Jonas to get his new deal too. Then he scored against Wolves, so it was a good week for him."
