Newcastle's Campbell to blame for Taylor injury

Newcastle United veteran Sol Campbell is the man to blame for putting teammate Ryan Taylor out of action for up to three months.

26-year old Taylor suffered an ankle injury in a training ground challenge from Campbell, but at the time, the man at the centre of the tackle was unaware just how bad the problem was.

A Newcastle source admitted that the former Arsenal and Tottenham star did not say sorry for the tackle and was not aware that he had done so much damage to Taylor when at training ahead of the weekend's draw with Fulham.

"Sol didn't apologise for the tackle at the training ground, and then thought that Ryan was winding him up when he appeared at the game on crutches," the source told the Daily Star.

"Ryan was understandably surprised as he was clattered into by Sol, and this tackle has probably ended his season."

Taylor had surgery on Tuesday and now faces three months on the sidelines but said he doesn't hold any hard-feelings towards Campbell.

"These things happen on the training ground, but it's not great for me. I face a long hard winter now," he said.
