Newcastle United chiefs remain nervous over the plans of Demba Ba.

The Evening Chronicle says United have wasted no time looking at other striker options. Ba's future will become clearer after July 31 when the release clause on his current deal will be deactivated.

Until then Newcastle are vulnerable and with Ba's representatives in line to scoop £3.5million if he leaves, nobody at the club's Benton base can take anything for granted.
