Newcastle push Liverpool to drop Carroll asking price

Newcastle United are pushing Liverpool to drop their asking price for Andy Carroll.

The People says Newcastle hope to convince Liverpool to sell Carroll for less than their initial £17million valuation.

And Carroll, who has spent the season on loan at West Ham, is believed to be ready to do anything he can to make the move happen – including taking a cut to his £90,000-a-week Liverpool wages.

Newcastle’s top earners pocket around £60,000-a-week and Carroll would have to drop to a similar level.

Carroll has regained his form recently at West Ham United, scoring four goals in his last six games, and produced an impressive display against Newcastle last week.
