Newcastle plan late move for Celtic defender Van Dijk

Newcastle United are eyeing Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Daily Express says the Toon are considering a deadline-busting move for Celtic defender Van Dijk.

Magpies manager Alan Pardew has turned his attention to the £8million-rated Dutchman, who is also on the radar of Premier League rivals Swansea City, Southampton and Tottenham as well as Hamburg.

The 23-year-old was signed from Groningen for £2.5m in June 2013 but it now looks increasingly likely that he will leave before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
