Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has welcomed new signing Ki Sung-yueng.
The pair played together at Swansea City.
Shelvey said, “He's a very talented player who chips in with a few goals but he rarely gives the ball away.
“He's very fit.
“There will be four of us fighting for the two spots so it will be down to who performs best. When I was at Swansea with him they probably had the best season they've had in the Premier League.
“That was probably due to the midfield we had last year. We just clicked.
“He just brings in another competitive face to the squad.
“You aren't the captain of your country if you can't play football. He's a great player and talented person.
“We are just going to welcome him back when he eventually gets back off his holiday."
