Newcastle midfielder Longstaff: Miley has all the tools

Newcastle United youngster Lewis Miley has made a massive impression on one of his teammates.

The 16-year-old has already made his senior home debut in a friendly for the Magpies this winter.

He is now a step closer to making his competitive bow when action resumes this and next week.

Teammate Sean Longstaff has quipped that he was never as good as Miley at that age.

"I was never that good at 16!" he told NUFC TV.

"Not just the other young lads but, especially, Lew being in my position.

"Looking at him, even when we were away in Saudi, I remember speaking to him and got on the phone to my family and said, 'You don't realise how young he is until you speak to him properly, but he's got all the tools.' He played in the little game on Friday and you just watch him from the side and you realise how good he is.

"It's been an absolute joy to work with him. He's such a lovely lad. I just said to him, 'Anything you need from me or the team, we're there for you 100%' and he always listens. When someone listens and wants to get better, it's a joy to have them with you.

"Hopefully he can kick on and train with us, and try and play as much as he can because it will only help him get better. Hopefully he can go to the top."
