Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid says he consulted with manager Alan Pardew before signing for Panathinaikos.
Abeid has joined Pana on a season-long loan .
"It was a willingness of both sides, the coach could not guarantee enough playing time and as I have not played much with Newcastle last season, neither the club nor I could afford the same thing again this season," Abeid told Foot Mercato.
"Alan Pardew is a coach who speaks with his players and he supported me in my choice to sign for Pana."
